Here at Redwood Joinery we are huge fans of Accoya. We have been an Accoya® Certified Joinery Manufacturer since 2014 from our Somerset workshop.

Why Accoya for our Windows and Doors?

The simple answer is because of its exceptional stability. When we build from Accoya we know that the product will give perform flawlessly for season upon season, year upon year, for decades. The inherent stability also means that applied finishes will also last and last. No movement means no cracks, providing for incredibly low maintenance.
It is simply the best timber product on the market for external joinery, and if it wasn't, we wouldn't use it.

So what's the secret?

Accoya is an ultra-high performance product, made from fast-growing and sustainable softwood, which is then treated by a natural process called acetylation. Put simply, this process changes the way that wood reacts with water, putting a stop to absorption. This removes the root cause of swelling, shrinking and warping, meaning that it performs like the finest hardwoods without any of the associated drawbacks.

Sustainability, Versatility and Durability

All Accoya comes from FSC certified forests, it is 100% non-toxic and 100% recyclable. It is thus environmentally friendly, but that would mean nothing if it wasn't also versatile and durable. It is easy to machine, it retains its strength and density, and it takes a finish beautifully. It is suitable for countless types of joinery, and it lasts and lasts.
